FAQS – GETTING READY TO BOARD

  • What are your boarding rates and packages?

Our boarding rates and packages vary depending on the size of the pet, the dates of their stay and services requested. We have base rates and seasonal/holiday rates. Please contact us directly for current pricing information.

  • What vaccinations are required for my pet to board with you?

All pets must be up to date on vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella (canine cough). The Bordetella needs to have been given within six months of boarding. Proof of vaccination from a licensed veterinarian is required.

  • Can I tour your facility before booking?

Yes, we encourage pet owners to schedule a tour of our facility to see our accommodations, play areas, and meet our caring staff. We recommend bringing your dog if practical. Tours can be arranged by contacting us directly. In addition, we recommend a day of daycare or an overnight boarding trial to allow your pet to get to know us and vice versa before a longer stay.

  • How often will my pet be fed and exercised during their stay?

Our standard feeding times are 8am, noon, 3pm and 6pm. Pets are fed as closely as possible to their regular schedule, and exercise routines are tailored to each pet's needs. Dogs receive four potty breaks throughout the day and additional activities that you select for them.

  • Do you offer any additional services such as grooming or training?

We offer bathing and nail trims during boarding or as drop-off services with a reservation. Transportation services are available Monday through Friday. We do not offer training. Please inquire about these services when making your reservation.

  • What happens in case of a medical emergency?

In the event of a medical emergency, we immediately contact the pet owner and seek veterinary care from a nearby emergency clinic. Our staff members are trained in pet first aid and CPR and we closely monitor each pet on a daily basis for signs of injury or illness.

  • Can I bring my pet's own food and belongings?

Yes, we prefer that you bring your pet's own food. We provide bedding and bowls, but you can bring a maximum of three personal items such as toys and bedding to make their stay more comfortable. Please label all items with your pet's name.

  • How do you ensure the safety and security of pets in your care?

We have strict safety protocols in place, including supervision of all dog groups by our trained staff, secure enclosures including six-foot fences, and regular facility inspections. VIP has a fire/burglar alarm system and a generator to ensure all systems are operational regardless of weather conditions. Our staff members receive extensive training in responding to medical emergencies.

  • Do you offer any discounts for long-term boarding or multiple pets?

We do not offer discounted rates due to the personalized care provided to each pet.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy varies depending on the time of year and demand for boarding services. We require a $50 deposit per pet for major holidays and spring break. Deposits are refundable with 14 days’ notice. Please refer to our website or contact us directly for details on our cancellation policy and any associated fees.

  • Do you require pets to be spayed/neutered?

Yes, for the safety and comfort of all pets, we require dogs and cats over the age of one year to be spayed or neutered to participate in group activities.

  • Can I schedule playtime or special activities for my pet during their stay?

Absolutely! We offer customizable activity packages where you can schedule additional playtime, nature walks, or even pool sessions for your pet. Please inquire about these options when making your reservation

  • What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks and major credit cards. Our credit card processor charges our clients 3.5% of the total invoice. If you want to avoid that fee, please pay by cash or check. Payment is due at checkout.

FAQS – WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BOARDING

  • Why did I receive some food back?

While boarding, dogs sometimes do not eat as much as usual. This is usually a response to a change in their environment. Rest assured, your dog received their meals as agreed every day. We try not to throw out uneaten food unless necessary. Refer to our report cards to see your pup’s eating habits while boarding.

  • Why is my dog sleeping so much?

VIP provides an active, social experience for your dog which includes many opportunities to exercise. Even if your dog isn’t the playing type, simply being awake paying attention to the activity in the kennel can make them tired. It’s common and likely for your pup to go home needing a little extra rest for a day or two.

  • Why is my dog drinking so much water?

At VIP, your dog has 24/7 access to water in their kennel and in playgroups. However, it’s likely for dogs to seem thirsty upon returning home. This common reaction is usually due to the excitement of being back home and shouldn’t be cause for concern.

  • Why is my dog having loose stools?

As your dog returns home, the change in environment and seeing you again is very exciting. An upset tummy is not uncommon as your dog adjusts back into its normal routine. Diarrhea from either the excitement of returning home, or from their boarding experience, usually resolves after 1-2 days as they settle back in. If it persists, a trip to the vet may be recommended.
